The School of English and Drama (SED) have placed their module directory, listing all of their modules running in 2023-24, on QMPlus. Students external to SED – ie, not taking one of the joint honours programmes with English or Drama -  can log on using guest access.

You should enter any SED modules you wish to take directly into MySIS as part of your main module choices. We will then liaise with the School of English and Drama for their decision.

You MUST ensure that you have also selected enough usable back up choices from within your degree programme in SLLF should SED be unable to accommodate your request, otherwise the SLLF Programme Admin Team will choose a module on your behalf.

Students can view History modules available in 2023-24 on the QMPlus page. To gain access to their QMPlus page you will need to enter the following password: Qmhistory23. If you have any problems accessing the handbook email: history-elearning@qmul.ac.uk.

To request a module, email the Department on history-taught-programmes@qmul.ac.uk. Once the department has confirmed, you will also need to enter the history modules into MySIS when you complete your module registration.

You MUST ensure that you have also selected enough relevant back up choices from within your degree programme in SLLF should the School of History be unable to accommodate your request, otherwise the Programme Admin Team will choose a module on your behalf.

Modules that may be of particular interest to SLLF students are listed below. You are able to apply for any HST modules except for special subjects (modules with codes HST67**).

We have been advised by the School of Politics and International Relations that unless you are taking a degree programme with them, you will be unable to choose any Level 5 or 6 modules.

If you wish to take modules outside of the School of Languages, Linguistics and Film, you will need to complete the Module Registration process of both SLLF's and the other School. You must also ensure that you do so by both School's deadlines.

If you wish to take modules offer by Schools not mentioned in the other tabs, it is unlikely that you will be accepted onto their modules. However you will need to contact the specific department directly for further guidance.

It is highly encouraged in these circumstances to enter you preferred 120 credits into MySIS so that the SLLF Programme Admin Team can liaise with other Schools regarding your module request.

You MUST ensure that you enter enough reserve choices from within your degree programme in  SLLF should the other School be unable to accommodate your request. Failure to provide us with usable module back up choices will result in the SLLF Programme Admin Team placing you onto a module that fits your programme regulations.


Credit Bearing Modules (taken as part of your 120 credits):

The Language Centre offers a number of credit bearing language modules which can be chosen as part of a students 120 credits of modules. A list of languages offered can be found here:

Non-Credit Bearing modules (taking a language as an extracurricular activity):

The Language Centre also offers language modules as non-credit bearing modules, should students not be able to, or wish, to take them as a credit bearing module.

Students who wish to take non-credit bearing modules will be able to find information regarding how to apply and self-fund these modules on our Language Centre Website towards the beginning of the new academic year in September (https://www.qmul.ac.uk/sllf/language-centre/language-learning/).

 

If self-funding a language module isn't a possibility, it may also be worth having a conversation with your home School to see if they might be able to fund it for you (some Schools have done this for their students in the past but this may not be a possibility in the current circumstances). If they are able to fund a language module, you will need to enter the name of the person from your home School's Administration Team, who confirmed this. The SLLF Programme Admin Team will then be in contact with your home School regarding this.
